Amazing Strides 4-Amputee Tabitha Mullings

An inspiring person who is making the most of a horrific situation:
They’re not her two feet, but Tabitha Mullings is standing on them.
The Brooklyn mother of three, who says medical malpractice turned her into a quadruple amputee, is standing up for the first time with temporary prosthetic legs at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitative Medicine.
“I was 5-feet-5 before - now I’m 5-10,” Mullings said happily.
“They said they’ll bring it down. I got so emotional when I saw them and put them on. They’re kind of heavy, but I’ll get used to them.”
Mullings, 32, went to Brooklyn Hospital Center’s emergency room on Sept. 14, where she was diagnosed with a kidney stone and sent home with painkillers, she says. She called 911 twice in the next 24 hours, but medics did not take her back to the hospital.
She developed a sepsis infection, and within two weeks gangrene destroyed her limbs and also left her blind in her right eye and severely impaired vision in her left eye.
Mullings said she still dreams of having real hands and feet. She begins walking with the prosthetics next week.
“I’m looking forward to getting my [prosthetic] hands,” she said.
