Stop & Shop Kicks Off Free Prescription Program

Stop & Shop’s free prescription program began Friday and runs to March 21. Under the program, 36 generic antibiotics in nine basic categories will be offered free at Stop & Shop pharmacies nationwide, including 27 pharmacies on Long Island and in Queens (New York).

Faith Weiner, Stop & Shop’s director of public affairs, said the free prescription program is part of the company’s health and wellness initiative, which was introduced in the summer. “It’s a continuation of programs aimed at helping consumers navigate this bad economy,” Weiner said. “We have this economy and it’s the time of the season where people can get airborne illnesses. As a company, we just want to show customers we can be a solution and a resource in these troubled economic times.”
